Sabah from Yabad who is the mother of five, began her business life in 1987 during the first intifada. Because of continued closures and curfews food was hard to obtain, and Sabah began to sell juice and sandwiches from her home. This went well and so she expanded to selling special foods for Ramadan.

She took over a store near her home and turned to Asala for a loan to buy kitchen equipment. With the loan money she bought a large mixer and an oven for baking bread and cakes. Sabah is not only an excellent cook, but has a natural business talent. She has now returned her third loan successfully expanding her business all the time. Although Sabah has no formal schooling, and is still illiterate, she is industrious and clever. She now manages four school cafeterias with the help of her daughter.

In her bakery, she is assisted by her husband who does deliveries. With the profits from these businesses, she has been able to acquire a gas station. Sabah is grateful for the support of her family and the assistance of Asala that has enabled her to carry out her business ventures with such success.
